MYLUK-S Bradford Hold Deen Decoded Study Circles

MYLUK – Sisters in Bradford recently launched their 2016 Study circles under the name ‘DEEN DECODED’. The study circles will be continuing regularly on a fortnightly basis on Sundays from 5-7pm. The first study circle of MYLUK – Sisters in Bradford took place on Sunday 20th March 2016 in Minhaj-ul-Quran, 187 Manningham Lane, Bradford, BD8 7HP.

The concept behind ‘Deen Decoded’ was to break down Islam and start from the basic principles but studying each principle in depth alongside topics of modern issues. The first two sessions were based on Iman (Iman-e-Mujmal & Iman-e-Mufassal) and talk about Hijab.

The first session welcomed many new faces with a wide variety of people either wanting to refresh their knowledge on Islam or wanting to learn about Islam completely from the beginning with little prior knowledge. We introduced the study circle with an ice breaker which allowed everyone to get to know each other thus making it easier to relate their experiences on the topics.

Our first Ramadan session, on Sunday 12th June 2016, focused on the Principles of Ramadan, Zakaat and elements of Spirituality – which will be discussed further in the next study circle. We started off the session on a PowerPoint based on Principles of Ramadan with clips and handouts relating how Ramadan is not just about starving yourself but learning self-discipline and patience. The second half of the session, regarding Zakat, prompted many questions and was discussed in a lot of depth about matters many didn’t even know about.

Each session follows a PowerPoint structure with all the information being presented with discussions and questions as we go along, using occasional clips in English. The information of all materials used for each study circle is sent to all attendees and is available to take/purchase. Majority of the content for the Study circles are used from the Teaching of Islam Series, Al-Minhaj Al-Sawi Part 2 (English translation), both written and compiled by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, and ABSTRACTS, free leaflets each based on a different topic developed by MYLUK-S. All sources are in easy-to-understand and comprehensive English.

The date of the next study circle is on Sunday 26th June 2016 at Minhaj-ul-Quran Bradford, 187 Manningham Lane, BD8 7HP from 4-6pm Insh’Allah. All sisters are welcome to join us.
